Economics tuition – price information

Pricing

For A-Level Economics tuition, I charge £89 per tuition hour.

Many tutors are cheaper and some are more expensive. Improving students’ economics results has been my full-time commitment since 2020, not a side gig. As a result, I focus my time and effort on my tuition students and have acquired a lot of experience of student grade improvement.

During that tuition hour, you get my full attention. My exam technique expertise, my deep understanding of the course content and my academic experience of achieving top grades. All distilled down to help you improve in economics.

My A-Level Economics Tutoring

Key facts:

  • Studied Economics at Cambridge at undergraduate and Master’s level, achieving a distinction in my Master’s degree.
  • 5 A*s and 1 A for A-Level
    • Including A*s in Economics, Maths and Further Maths.
  • Creator of economics resources for exam technique and course content used by thousands. Deep expertise that I can distil for my tuition students.
  • Economist turned economics tutor.
  • 34 excellent reviews.
  • Grade improvements during the tuition include students going from a C to an A or from a B to an A*.

Not just one hour a week – beyond the tutoring session

However, tutoring for me is so much more than just the hour. Outside of sessions, I work hard to ensure I can help my tuition students as much as possible.

Here is what I do outside of sessions, all included in the session fee:

Specific homework tasks

Homework tasks set specifically to work on your weak areas (content and exam technique) in economics.

Detailed homework feedback

My comments are more detailed than most teachers, but I also summarise to give you the most important areas for improvement.

Ask me questions!

I am always available for questions from the student over email. Exam technique, content or anything economics related!

Setting and marking practice tests

Especially before a mock exam or the actual exams, I set my own practice papers for students in timed conditions and mark them.

Personalised session planning

Session plans that target your weaknesses, putting grade improvement above all else.

Review of any school tests

I encourage my students to share these, so I can give you more actionable feedback than teachers often have time for.

Updates for parents

I regularly provide updates to parents on progress, what’s being covered, homework feedback and next steps.

University applications

I can advise students on university applications and personal statements. Especially for economics and related courses.

I also spend time reflecting and evaluating my approach to each student’s sessions. In particular I consider what kind of advice and focus points would be best suited to them.

When you add all this up, this represents a significant amount of extra work outside of the session hour. All included within the session fee.

The sole goal is to help you improve your economics. I will work as hard as I can to help you achieve this goal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the price differ for different levels of economics?

My price is £89 per hour for A-Level Economics tutoring.

For undergraduate economics, the rate is slightly higher at £99 per hour.

How do you accept payment?

I have a business bank account. I share the account details at the start of the tuition.

Payment is due by the end of the day of the session at the latest.

I can either accept individual session payments in advance or advance block booking of 4-6 sessions.

What is your cancellation / no-show policy?

I do not charge for cancellations when there is at least 24 hours’ notice.

For shorter notice cancellations, I reserve the right to charge the full rate. Discretion will naturally be shown in cases of health emergencies for example.

I have a three-strikes rule for “no-shows”, where a student does not show up unannounced for a session. If this happens three times, I will conclude the sessions. This is to make sure my time is best used to help students.

Do I have to commit to a certain number of lessons?

There is no minimum number of lessons.

Almost all my students have weekly sessions, however you can cancel the tuition arrangement any time.

Where can I find out more information about your economics tuition?

Please kindly see the link here to my main A-Level Economics tuition page.

What if I cannot afford the one-to-one tuition price?

I understand that the price of one-to-one tuition may not be affordable for everyone.

So, I devote a lot of my effort and time to creating free (or much cheaper) resources on this website.

These resources include exam technique and course content notes, specific to your exam board.

Please do use these resources – they are meant for everyone. My goal is to help as many students as possible improve their economics.
